Coming up May
8-9-10: The 2015 Moyie Mud Bog: Organizers are
putting the finishing touches on this year's 2015 edition of the
Mud Bog at Moyie Springs, and are expecting lots of attendance,
and lots of mud. The Mud Bog starts on Friday, May 8, and runs
through the weekend, ending on May 10. |
Bonners Ferry
city councilman Mayo submits resignation: After six
years on the Bonners Ferry City Council, and three years after
retiring from the Boundary County Assessor’s Office, city
councilman Tom Mayo has tendered his resignation, effective June
30, saying he’s finally ready to slow down and enjoy being
retired. |
BFPD Chief
Boone retires, new Chief Watson appointed: When
Robert Boone came to Bonners Ferry he came to retire after a
30-plus year career in law enforcement in San Bernardino County,
California. He didn't come to launch a new career, something he
made clear to the Bonners Ferry City Council when he was
appointed Chief of Police March 4, 2014. |

Little white church at Paradise Valley to be
renovated:
A group is organizing to renovate the little
white church at Paradise Valley. The
church has been a landmark building in Paradise
Valley for over 100 years. |
Boundary County
Centennial coins have arrived! The Bonners Ferry
Chamber of Commerce had an idea for a special way to help
commemorate the 100th birthday of Boundary County, Idaho this
past January. They commissioned the striking of a special coin,
minted with Idaho silver from the Sunshine Mine, to be offered
for purchase to help celebrate the centennial celebration of our
county. |

Earthquakes and Boundary County: A series of
low-magnitude earthquakes that occurred in the Sandpoint area
last Thursday and Friday were felt throughout North Idaho and
into areas of eastern Washington and western Montana. |
April 24 |
Reconstruction on I-90 from Mullan to Montana has begun:
Reconstruction has begun on Interstate 90 from Mullan to the
Idaho/Montana State line, which is about a 4.5-mile-long stretch
of freeway and includes Lookout Pass. |
Burn
permits required after May 9: Closed fire season in
Idaho begins May 10 and extends through October 20 each year.
During this period, it is unlawful for any person to set a fire
outside of an incorporated city or town without first obtaining
a fire safety burn permit from the Idaho Department of Lands. |
Free
Breakfast helps raise funds for scholarships: The
13th annual Free CommUNITY Breakfast and Silent Auction will be
held on Saturday, April 25, from 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the
Fairgrounds. |

in Idaho Panhandle felt by many in Boundary County:
The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting what many people in
Boundary County and elsewhere in the Idaho Panhandle felt
earlier this evening: an earthquake. In fact, two earthquakes. |

Distinguished
Young Women 2015: BFHS junior Shaleyna Higgins was
selected to serve as Bonners Ferry's 50th Distinguished Young
Woman on Saturday night at the annual Scholarship Program for
young women held at the high school auditorium. |

Sandpoint man
named as wanted for theft from Boundary Computer: A
warrant for the arrest of Andrew Mark Dearmin of 860 Meadowood
Road, Sandpoint, Idaho has been issued By Judge Justin Julian,
with bail set at $20,000. |
Idaho
legislators close session with funding bill for roads:
"Like other states, Idaho faces a crisis – the result of
long-term underinvestment in our aging roads and bridges. The
fact is we are driving on the infrastructure that was designed
and built for our grandparents." So says the AAA Better Roads,
Fair Funding project. |
Rotary
Club celebrates local law enforcement: It was a
packed house at the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club's First Annual Law
Enforcement Appreciation Dinner. |
Fourth of July
celebration in planning stages: In order to have
another of Boundary County's fantastic Fourth of July
celebrations as in years past, planning and funding needs to
start now. |
Driver
crashes into house: On Saturday night, at about
9:10 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle
striking a residence. The driver, 19 year old Kurt Webb of Moyie
Springs, was traveling on Old Highway 2 Loop when he lost
control of his vehicle and struck a residence. |

Board meeting Monday: Boundary County School
District 101 is having its regular School Board meeting on
Monday, April 13, and wants to let everyone know that all are
invited to attend. |

anchor to emcee Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women Program:
Mark Peterson, co-anchor of Good Morning Northwest on KXLY out
of Spokane will be returning to Bonners Ferry to emcee this
year’s Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program on
Saturday, April 18. |

County's BFHS Robotics team wins Regional Title:
FIRST Robotics Team 2130 Alpha+, along with their alliance
partners, Bulldogs from Calgary, Alberta and K-Bots from
Standoff, Alberta, were the Regional Winners of the FIRST
Robotics Western Canada Regional in Calgary, Alberta. |

participating in hiring event in Post Falls next week:
Fifty-one employers will be participating in the April 15 hiring
event sponsored by the Idaho Department of Labor. |
Shuffling of some downtown businesses coming soon:
There will be a little shuffling going on this month on Main
Street in downtown Bonners Ferry. |

traffic and exploring Blackhawk helicopters are
all part of the Aviation Career Exploration
(ACE) Academy, June 15-17, hosted by the Idaho
Transportation Department’s Division of
Aeronautics in Boise. |

Shack reports stolen computer:
Boundary Computer Radio Shack, on Main Street in
downtown Bonners Ferry, is asking for assistance
from the public to help resolve what appears to
be a theft of one of their computers. |
