Boundary County's BFHS Robotics team wins Regional Title
April 7, 2015
FIRST Robotics Team 2130 Alpha+, along with their alliance partners, Bulldogs from Calgary, Alberta and K-Bots from Standoff, Alberta, were the Regional Winners of the FIRST Robotics Western Canada
Regional in Calgary, Alberta. Thirty-one teams representing British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Idaho, and Montana competed at the event.

All four teams representing Idaho placed well at the event. The TeraViks from Coeur d’Alene and LiveWire from Pocatello both made it to the quarterfinals. The Misfit Toys from Rathdrum, Idaho, along with their alliance partners, were the Regional Finalists.

Bonners Ferry's Alpha+ team members and mentors exhibited outstanding gracious professionalism during this event, as they helped multiple other teams finish building and programming their robots for the competition.

“With gracious professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended.” Alpha+ team members feel this is one of the most rewarding parts of any event we attend.

Alpha+ was also awarded the distinguished Entrepreneurship Award sponsored by Kleiner Perkins
Caufield & Byers. This award “celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by recognizing a team that has
developed the framework for a comprehensive business plan to scope, manage, and achieve team
objectives.”

Alpha+ now qualifies to attend the FIRST Robotics World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri, which will be held April 21-27. Alpha+ will be competing with 600 teams from around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Israel, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and this year, China.

Almost every state in the US will be represented, with four Idaho teams, including teams from Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello and Bonners Ferry.

In a very short time the team needs to raise funds for the competition entrance fee, airfare, hotel rooms, food and other expenses. This will not be possible without the continued support from our generous sponsors and our wonderful community. If you would like to participate in this support, checks may be made out to Bonners Ferry High School Robotics, and sent to Bonners Ferry High School Robotics, Bonners Ferry High School, 6485 Tamarack Lane, Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805.
