Meet this year's Distinguished Young Women

As the date of this year's Distinguished Young
Women event nears, we will be receiving
background information and photographs of the
participants. Here are four of the twelve young
women in the event. This year's Distinguished
Young Women event is scheduled for Saturday,
April 30.

Serenity
Rose Winey
Serenity Rose Winey, sponsored by Masonic
Organizations Lodge No. 43, is the daughter of
Robert and Sabrina Winey. She has one sister,
Arista. Serenity plans on attending the
University of Idaho to become a Forensic Lab
Technician. In her spare time, Serenity enjoys
fishing, golfing, four wheeling, and playing
softball.
A modern personality that interests Serenity is
Amberley Snyder, while a historical figure that
interests her is Harriet Tubman. For her talent,
Serenity will be performing an inspirational
monologue.
When asked what makes Serenity least proud of
her generation she states, “I am least proud of
the fact that most of us are often times too
lazy to make a change.”
Lexie LeVesque
Alexandria Paige LeVesque, the daughter of Lael
Alexander and Bill McCabe and
Steve and Mary LeVesque, is sponsored by Bonners
Ferry Eagles Aeries #3522. She has one sister,
Kaylee, and one brother, Matthew. Lexie plans to
attend University of Maryland and pursue a
career in law enforcement.
When Lexie is not dancing on the BFHS Dance
Team, participating in 4-H, or serving as Border
Patrol Explorer, she also enjoys photography,
spending time with family, and writing. Lexie’s
favorite musical performer is Jason Derulo, and
Martin Luther King Jr. is a historical figure
that interests her. For her talent, Lexie will
be performing a self-choreographed dance to the
song “Greased Lightning” from her favorite
musical, Grease.
When asked what makes her most proud of her
generation, Lexie states, “I’m most proud of how
accepting and diverse we are.”
Mary
Fioravanti
Mary Kate Fioravanti is sponsored by Far North
Deli. She is the daughter of Steve and Lynda
Fioravanti. She has three brothers, Michael,
Christian, and Gabe. After high school, Mary
plans to attend the University of Idaho and
pursue a career in Business. Mary finds
historical figures George Washington and Thomas
Jefferson interesting, as well as modern
personality Ron Paul.
Mary keeps busy by participating in Honor Choir,
Future Farmers of America, Film Club, Young
Idahoans, and Summer Theatre. In her free time,
Mary enjoys singing, blogging, journalism, and
playing Ultimate Frisbee. For her talent, Mary
will be performing a vocal solo of the song
“Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Barbara Streisand.
When asked what makes her least proud of her
generation, Mary states, “I am least proud that
my generation is apathetic towards world
issues.”
Rachel Young
Rachel Young is sponsored by the Veterans of
Foreign Wars #3622. She is the daughter of
Rebecca Frederickson. She has one sister,
Bethany. After graduation,
Rachel plans to attend Lewis and Clark State
College and study English. Rachel is intrigued
by modern personalities Cory Monteith and Matt
Steffinina, and finds historical figure Marilyn
Monroe interesting.
Extracurricular activities that keep Rachel
active include Dance Team, Choir, and Drama. In
her free time Rachel also enjoys reading,
singing, babysitting, and spending time with her
friends. For her talent, Rachel will be
performing a hip-hop dance.
When asked what makes her most proud of her
generation, Rachel states, “That we are
go-getters. When we see an opportunity we will
take it.”
