FFA doing its part for Moose Madness
December 14, 2015
by Mary Fioravanti

FFA members are ready to put the boot to Sandpoint. They are working in coalition with the Leadership Class, Staff, and the rest of the Student Body for Moose Madness. The whole school is ready to win this year’s competitions!

Moose Madness is an annual competition between Bonners Ferry High School and Sandpoint High School dating back to December of 2008. There is a moose rack that is painted on one side with the blue and white Badger colors and on the other side with the red and white Bulldog colors, hence the term “Moose Madness.” When one school emerges victorious they take home the moose rack. This year Moose Madness is in the Sandpoint gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. The event includes a collection of games including basketball, wrestling, the rope-pull, a stomp routine, and more. Who will help us to “bring back the rack?”

The FFA and the Bonners Ferry High School are strongly pushing for the community’s support in this year’s fundraiser. The Bonners Ferry welding class made a decorative medal piece of art that was raffled off at Saturday’s basketball game. There is also a boy’s varsity wrestling B-cup game Thursday, December 17 in Sandpoint at 6:00 p.m. Moose Madness may be a competition, but the main focus is to help our veterans. They are giving all of the money that is generated to the Wounded Warrior Project. The Bonners Ferry High School along with the FFA is proud to support their veterans. The FFA has a long heritage of patriotism, and is all for giving back to the community.

Although all of the generated money from both of the high schools goes towards charity groups, students still need to raise more money than Sandpoint as a factor in winning Moose Madness. This is the time that we as a community must show our school and town spirit the most! Moose Madness is coming up soon and it is going to be fierce. The Moose Madness rivalry with Sandpoint has made the students resolve to join together as a community to defeat Sandpoint High School. There are numerous jars in businesses around town that people can donate to or drop money off at the school. We must give it our all to win the Moose Madness competition this year. Every penny counts!
