STARDUST! original performance at the Pearl
Theater |
May 12, 2016 |
Explore the universe in which we earthlings live
and love, in song, story, science, and stunning
photography.
"STARDUST!" takes us from earth to the furthest
reaches of the cosmos with an hilarious script
and unusual characters. Projections serve up
stunning photography of the universe sprinkled
with poetry. Scientific theory is wrapped in
amusing story and beautiful visuals. Songs
include everything from David Bowie's Space
Oddity and Patsy Cline's Walkin' After
Midnight, from Good Mornin' Starshine,
Stand By Me, and 40's standards like
Deep Purple and Stardust, to
contemporary choral works like Dan Forrest's
Stars and He Wishes for the Cloths of
Heaven by Brad Ellingboe.
Creator and director Vicki Blake Thompson said,
"This is, in a way, my cumulative work. I have
spent years gathering information, music,
poetry, all the component pieces for 'STARDUST!'
Previous shows like The Elusive Heart
and Finding the Common Beat explored
this format for the music theater experience
which is entertaining, informative, and moving,
far more than the sum of its parts. Timothy
Braatz has done a fabulous job with the script
that weaves it all together with humor and light
hearted introspection. I promise an experience
of laughter, wonder, surprise, and passion."
The performance features the Boundless vocal
ensemble, Lauren Skye Palmer, Rhea Verbanic,
Gail Southall (Creston), Jolyn Horton, Vicki
Blake Thompson, DJ Cruttenden, Sam Richardson
(Sandpoint), Jeremiah Campbell (Sandpoint), and
Ryan Hale accompanied by Barb Nelson. Additional
instrumentalists include Troy, Montana band
director Sheri Schweitzer, Cheryl Kaessinger,
Jim Thompson, Petra Timmermans, and Karen
Samter. Actors include Tully Reinhardt, India
Kucherry, Devin Fredericks, and Anjanee
Gyan-Dyck (Creston). Technical director is Lynn
Haworth and projectionist is Lisa Palmer.
"STARDUST!" was conceived, created, and directed
by Vicki Blake Thompson with an original script
and additional direction by Timothy Braatz.
