Each month, the Bonners Ferry Rotary honors two
students from Bonners Ferry High School as
Rotary Students of the Month. For February,
Rotary honors went to Kylie Byars and Dalin
Hubbard.
The Students of the Month are selected on the
basis of the their academic achievement and
their commitment and contributions to their
community, school and family. Students must also
have good school attendance and demonstrate a
good attitude.
Finally, the winning students must have
demonstrated the characteristics of Rotary’s
“Four Way Test” – Is it the truth? Is it fair to
all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better
friendships? Will it be beneficial to all
concerned?
Kylie
Byars, daughter of William and Sarah Byars, has
spent her four years of high school contributing
to her community and participating in several
fundraisers to assist the food bank and youth in
need.
Kylie is especially proud of her work ethic
during four years of high school. Her employment
has allowed her to buy her own car and open a
college savings account.
She plans to attend NIC and the University of
Idaho with hopes of becoming a high school
biology teacher.
Dalin
Hubbard, son of Wesley and Jolene Hubbard, has
served or is serving his community in a variety
of ways.
This year, he volunteered for the BoCo Backpack
program for kids (filling a backpack with food
for an lunch program-eligible child intended to
last the child over a weekend), splitting wood
for families in need, and as a farm hand.
Dalin is especially proud of his achievements as
a licensed private pilot and a certified nursing
assistant (CNA).
Subsequent to completing a mission for his
church, he plans to attend college to become a
nurse anesthetist or gain employment in
agricultural research. |
