United Methodist celebrates Holy Week
|
March 26, 2013 |
The congregation at United Methodist Church,
located at Lincoln and Denver Streets in Bonners
Ferry, began their Holy Week celebrations with a
palm processional last Sunday, but they have
several more special services on tap through
Easter Sunday.
A simple remembrance of Jesus' last Passover
night with his disciples takes place at 7 p.m.
on Holy Thursday, March 28. On Good Friday,
March 29, they'll observe the Stations of the
Cross, also at 7 p.m., remembering the last days
of Jesus' life. As this is a powerful and
dramatic service, it's not recommended that
young children attend.
The first service of Easter takes place at 7
a.m., with a community Easter celebration on the
parsonage lawn, 6706 Denver Street, which is
just up the hill behind the church.
A potluck breakfast will follow in the
Fellowship Hall, and after that, kids will set
out on an Easter egg hunt.
Easter Sunday services will begin at 10:15 a.m.,
with the combined band and choir leading in
traditional and contemporary hymns. A special
Easter coffee hour will follow the service.
