Art coming to Moose Valley Farms |
March 13, 2013 |
By Marcia Kirby There are great things happening at Moose Valley Farms this season. Of course there are all the beautiful plants and flowers with everything a person would need to be a successful gardener, wonderful gift shop where the perfect gift or personal treasure can be found. But one new and very exciting thing; Moose Valley Farms is now going to showcase local artists from Boundary County. To launch Moose Valley Farms “Featured Artist,” artist Diana Tombleson will be showing her Antler Baskets during Customer Appreciation Day May 4. She will be demonstrating some of her weaving techniques and the materials used, and she'll be available to answer questions about herself and her baskets throughout the day. Try not to miss this opportunity to meet with and see this fine artist at work. Diana Tombleson is our “Featured Artist” for the months of April and May. She makes the most beautiful baskets, has been weaving them for 40-some years, and has created a style that is distinctly her own. These baskets are woven using natural materials from our surrounding countryside. On moving to Bonners Ferry in 1975, she was inspired by the beauty of the land and the abundance of the wildlife. Her baskets have captured the spirit of Idaho in that they are made from the natural materials found in the area. She has incorporated native deer, elk and moose antler sheds; along with the natural materials of willow, dogwood, reed, sea grass and leather. Every basket is hand crafted and unique, designed and woven around an individual antler. Her baskets are very expertly crafted for function as well as a beautiful piece of art to be enjoyed for years and years. So folks during this season Moose Valley Farms would love to have you not only enjoy the beauty of the plants and flowers available but to take a moment and explore the “Featured Artist” section of the gift shop. To see for yourselves the many varied and wonderful local artistic people who create art that captures and reflects the true feel of Idaho. Moose Valley Farms is located at 138 Latigo Lane, Naples.
