Auby, the daughter of Tom and Rita Basler, is the first person to intern at the Boundary County Library, working in the children’s department and later at the front counter. In addition to her internship at the library, Auby has worked at for Good Shepherd at the Sandpoint Farmer’s Market selling lamb. In high school, she has participated in decorating for homecoming, has been a member of the art club, foreign language society, and has painted murals at the school. Auby has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years and has been involved in Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) for two years. Asked why she should be selected as Rotary Student of the Month, she replied, “I am no better or worse than any other person, but what sets me apart from many others is the effort I put into the numerous aspects of my life. Whether it be school, classroom or work, I put forth my best efforts to succeed and to help those around me.” Auby plans to attend Whitworth College to pursue a career in international business, concentrating in marketing or economics. Zach describes himself as a sports fanatic, having participated in basketball for three years, football for two and soccer for one year. The son of Kelly and Jennifer Ray, Zach is especially proud of his achievements as a top 10 member in his class and reaching second place at state in soccer. He has worked on a farm in North Dakota during high school and is a member of the National Honor Society, stating that he is a 4.0 student. When asked why he should be selected for Bonners Ferry Rotary Student of the Month, Zach said, “I’ve been a good student for four years and I’ve also participated in a lot of extracurriculars.” After high school, he will be going into the Air Force with a career goal of putting in 20 years before retirement and then getting a second job. Congratulations to Auby and Zach for being the Bonners Ferry Rotary Student of the Month for March 2012. |
