Head on collision sends three to hospital |
December 2, 2017 |
At about 8:09 p.m. Friday, a Boundary County
dispatcher alerted deputies of a tip from a
motorist reporting a possibly impaired driver
who was erratically driving south on Highway 95
from Three Mile. One minute later, at about 8:10
p.m., the dispatcher alerted deputies that the
vehicle had hit another vehicle head-on on the North Hill near the
45 mile per hour sign.
According to Idaho State Police, Jennifer R.
Jones, 39, Ponderay, was southbound driving a
brown 2006 Ford Explorer on Highway 95 near
milepost 509 when she drove left of center and
struck a white 2008 Dodge Caravan driven by Dale
L. Olsen, 82, Bonners Ferry, head on.
Olsen and his passenger, Dorothy N. Olsen, 78,
also of Bonners Ferry, were wearing their
seatbelts and were transported to Boundary
Community Hospital.
Jones was not wearing her seatbelt and was
transported initially to Boundary Community
Hospital and later transported by ambulance to
Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene with critical
injuries.
Traffic through the area was partially blocked
until shortly after midnight.
Investigation is still ongoing. |
