November 22, 2017 |
The National Weather Service is partnering with
Boundary County Emergency Management to offer a
free weather spotter training class from 6 to 8
p.m. Tuesday, November 28, at the former
National Guard Armory, 6566 Main Street, Bonners
Ferry. Volunteers who take the course will serve as the "eyes and ears" of the National Weather Service's Spokane office, sending in timely and accurate weather reports that are available in no other way. The training is free and no prior experience is necessary. Everyone interested is encouraged, particularly those who are regularly out in the weather. Spotter reports, combined with radar, satellite and other tools in the National Weather Service's tool bag enables forecasters to issue more timely, accurate and useful weather alerts and warnings for all types of hazardous weather. Those interested should contact Andrew Brown at the Spokane National Weatheer Service, by email at Andrew.Brown@noaa.gov, or by phone at (509) 244-0110, extension 223. |
