Greetings from up north! We have snow on the
playground and the first progress reports have
been sent home for the year. We made it halfway
through the first trimester, and our students
and staff have been working hard.
It’s not all hard work. One student said it
best, “[My teacher] is tricking everyone and it
seems like we are playing games (dice, topple
blocks, etc...) but we are ACTUALLY LEARNING!”
Mt. Hall isn’t all tricks either. We had a great
time celebrating Halloween with a creepy STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
science lab. Mrs. Myrna Myers and an army of mad
scientists transformed the gym into a science
lab, and our students were able to make their
way through various STEM related stations
(slime, polymer snow, and boo bubbles).
A spooktacular time was had by all!
With Thanksgiving coming up, November is always
a great reminder to reflect on what we are
thankful for.
Mt. Hall Elementary has a lot to be thankful for
this year. We have a great group of parents who
spend countless hours making sure our students
and staff have what they need to do the best
jobs possible.
We recently had a bread fundraiser.

logo! |
In their first year, the students sold over
$2,000 worth of bread. It was a successful
fundraiser, and helps us fund various projects
such as school t-shirts for every Wildcat. The
students voted on a new design this year, and
it’s Wildcat awesome!
If you follow us on Facebook at
Mt. Hall School you can see the logo. Also,
if you know someone who would like a Mt. Hall
t-shirt, they can be ordered through Far North
Logo Shop.
This year, we decided to take a year off from
the famous Mt. Hall auction. We have been so
blessed by the generosity of our community in
the past years, and we have been able to do so
much with the money raised from the auction.
We plan on bringing it back next year, so keep
your calendars open!
In honor of Veterans Day, Mt. Hall Elementary
invited veterans to our school last Monday for
our Veterans Day celebration.
Under the direction of Mrs. Lori Carpenter, the
students sang a song of thanks to our visiting
vets. Afterwards the students lined the hallway
as the veterans made a hero walk out to our flag
pole. Once outside, a couple of Mrs. Hart’s
fifth grade students raised the flag and we said
the Pledge.
It was a touching occasion. A huge thank you to
all of our veterans.
This Wednesday was our annual “Invite a Guest to
Lunch.” It’s a fun day where families can come
to school and have a Thanksgiving lunch with
their kids. Our food service director, Mrs.
Tammy Schneider, and our very own Mt. Hall cook,
Mrs. Wendy White, do a tremendous job each year,
and we are so thankful for them.
This year our district decided to go back to a
week off at Thanksgiving break. I’m thankful for
this time with my family, but I’m looking
forward to seeing my students again after the
break.
Holidays create a lot of excitement and a lot of
anxiety for some of our kids. I’m thankful for
our local associations that look out for the
people in our county and make sure everyone has
the opportunity for a hot Thanksgiving meal.
Their generous spirit is a true inspiration.
Mrs. Hart and our student council is hosting a
food drive this week, and all cans donated will
go to Mt. Hall’s community church. Rumor has it
there’s a little incentive.
Students who bring in canned items will receive
raffle tickets and the chance to “pie” a staff
member!
When we return from break, we will have a few
weeks of rehearsal and then our incredible
Christmas program.
The students have been working hard and are
excited for this production. Make sure and mark
your calendars for December 13. The program
starts at 7 p.m. There will be a silent auction
going on and chances to bid before the show and
during the intermission.
Until next month, thank you for all of your
support of Mt. Hall Elementary. I’m thankful to
live in a community that believes in our kids
and supports our schools.
Thank you and Go Wildcats! |
