Schweitzer kicking off season November 18 |
November 11, 2017 |
Thanks to consistent temperatures for snow
making and some significant early natural
snowfall, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is pleased
to announce the start of the 2017/18 season on
Saturday, November 18. "It’s been a fabulous November for snowfall," said Marketing Manager Dig Chrismer. “We’ve received 37 inches so far this month and with the temps staying below freezing on the mountain, we’ve been able to make snow as well. The long range La Nina forecast seems to be kicking in and that’s a perfect scenario for getting our skiers and riders back on the slopes.” The resort plans on limited operations and services Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19, with Musical Chairs and Basin Express Quad running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Adult full day lift tickets will be $45. The resort will close mid-week and reopen on Friday, November 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The resort will then suspend lift operations November 27 to 30 and recommence Friday, December 1, for the full seven day a week operating schedule. Early season lodging discounts are also available with rooms at the Selkirk Lodge starting at $99 per night until November 30, 2017. "The forecast looks good for additional snowfall in the coming weeks, making it possible to add more lifts and terrain as we can," Chrismerb added. "This is really a great opportunity for our local skiers and riders to shake out their legs and reconnect with winter.” Guests are reminded that the Schweitzer Cut-Off Road from Highway 95 is still closed at this time and the detour via Bronx Road is still in place.
