Idaho Senator Mike Crapo took
time from his busy schedule to meet with
the Kootenai Valley Resource Initiative
Board for lunch on August 29. Left to
right are County Commissioner Walt
Kirby, commissioner LeAlan Pinkerton,
Ron Abraham, Kootenai Tribe of Idaho,
Senator Mike Crapo, Commissioner Dan
Dinning, Bonners Ferry Mayor David Sims
and Gary Aitken Jr., Kootenai Tribe of
Idaho.
Among the discussions Senator Crapo, a
long-time admirer of the KVRI, took part
in were, "How is collaboration going for
KVRI -- are we making gains toward
forest restoration?;" "Will there be
continued funding for forest restoration
work?;" "Is there potential for a budget
fix to fund the Forest Service to fight
wildfires without exhausting their
budget for other work?;" "What's
happening with funding for Secure Rural
Schools, which provides money to the
county for roads?;" and "Sharing the
huge success of burbot recovery ...
looking down the road to fishing for
them again someday." |
