Support needed for city pool grant |
August 24, 2017 |
The City of Bonners Ferry is looking for letters
of support as they apply for a $100,000 grant to
fund improvements to the Bonners Ferry Municipal
Pool. Without it, there are enough maintenance
needs that it may be at risk for closure.
Organizers rallying to support the grant say our
community needs this facility, as it teaches our
children to swim and it's one of the few sources
of supervised all-summer entertainment for an
affordable price.
"I know many families whose children spend time
there nearly every day, including mine," one
supporter said, "and the pool needs all of the
support we can provide."
Those who agree are encouraged to please commit
right now to writing a letter and submitting it
by Friday, August 31.
"We are all busy, but the pool requires
immediate repair to sustain it for future
seasons and maintenance if we hope to
responsibly allocate city resources to fund it."
she said. "Many of us grew up with the pool, and
I would hate for our children to miss out on the
memories many of us share."
Please address letters to the attention of city
planner Lisa Ailport and drop them off at the
Bonners Ferry city office, 7232 Main Street, or
email them to her at
lailport@bonnersferry.id.gov.
You may wish to include any of the following key
points in your letter:
- Who you are and what roles you play in the community
- How you use(d) the facility as a group or individual
- How the facility meets the needs of the community
- The need/desire to keep the facility in good working order
- Any other information you would like to highlight about the facility.
The more community support, the more likely we
are to keeping our kids swimming in the summer
months! |
