Flood watch issued for heavy overnight rain |

The National Weather Service in Spokane has
issued a flood watch for portions of North Idaho
and Washington, including Bonner and Boundary
Counties, in effect from 2 a.m. Tuesday through
Tuesday evening.
Widespread rain amounts of a half inch to an
inch on Tuesday will once again raise concerns
for mud and rock
slides.
Creeks and small streams will also experience
rises Tuesday and Tuesday night in response to
runoff from rain.
Fortunately, temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday
will be cool, which is good news. There will be
little contribution from mountain snow melt
during the rain event Tuesday.
A flood watch means there is a potential for
rock slides and rises on creeks and streams
based on current forecasts. You should monitor
later forecasts and be alert for possible flood
warnings. |
