It's time to start working again on the Little
White Church in Paradise Valley! The building
has been jacked up and a foundation built
underneath. The exterior siding of the building
has been repaired and/or replaced and painted
and looks great!
There are new windows, a new roof, and there's a
bell on the top of the roof that came all the
way from Texas! There's a stone tablet out front
with the Ten Commandments on it.
If you haven't driven by the church, be sure to
do so, you'll be surprised!
Now we need to turn our attention to updating
and repairing the interior. The pews were
painted by the Boy Scouts last summer and they
look real spiffy! Thanks guys! But there's more
to be done. Here's a look at what we need to do:
* Tear off all the old wallboard and wall coverings and replace them.
We're looking at cedar siding to complete that
job.
* The floors need to be sanded and refinished.
* The wood stove is in poor shape and needs to be replaced or repaired.
* The electricity in the church is old and dangerous. It needs to be
rewired.
* Also, the water running off the roof is going to discolor the new white
paint. We need to install gutters on both the
north and south sides of the building.
I'm sure that as things go along this summer,
we'll find a few other things that need
repairing or replacing, but we hope to wrap up
the job this year. |
