Jon Riebli and family carrying on farming tradition | |

By John Kellogg Chairman Boundary County Farm Bureau Jon has had a passion for farming and ranching his whole life. His mother Kathy recalls at a very young age Jon would rather be out on the tractor than doing homework or chores around the house. He was always interested in knowing how things worked, and would spend hours following family and neighbors around leaning about farming. This passion has followed Jon into his adult life where he, along with his father Mike, has continued to farm and ranch. The Riebli’s currently run a cow-calf operation with 50 plus mother cows, and also produce hay and grain crops on the family farm. In addition to the farming and ranching, the Riebli’s also operate a trucking business, where they custom haul crops, fertilizer and other agricultural commodities. Jon joined the Boundary County Farm Bureau as a board member in 2015. He was elected as the YF&R Chair during the 2016 Annual meeting. Last January Jon, Shaina and their children attended the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation YF&R Leadership Conference in Pocatello. This conference is held each year for each county’s Young Farmers and Rancher chairs to come together, collaborate, share ideas and discuss issues that concern agriculture. The conference is several days packed full of workshops and activities designed to strengthen relationships, build leadership skills and provide young farm members with additional opportunities to become active members of the Farm Bureau family. Jon and his family had a great time at the conference and hope to attend again in the future. Jon was impressed with the caliber of young people he met during the conference and was optimistic about the future of agriculture in the state. The Boundary County Farm Bureau is a voluntary grassroots organization dedicated to strengthening, educating and protecting the future of agriculture in our county and state.
