One parent is already actively planning for the eighth Promotion Dance and had this letter to send to the public: Dear Parents/Family , As you know, 8th grade graduation is around the corner! Mr. Miles asked the students if they wanted a dance this year and they said, “Yes!” This means, we have some planning and getting together to do. If you are interested in being a part of it in any way, please let me know by email, text, or phone call as soon as possible. I’ll set a date for our first meeting after hearing from you, as I know we are all busy with the Spring sports season and other extracurricular activities going on. I look forward to working with you serving our youth! Thank you, Alethia Ussher (parent volunteer), 267-4647 home, 530-417-0433 call or text, alethiaussher@gmail.com Another note to parents: As we come upon the end of the year, there are several activities planned for students. As always, these activities are privileges and students who have good behavior and acceptable grades will be allowed to attend and participate in those activities. Examples of some of the activities include 8th grade trip to Silverwood, Promotion ceremony and dance, 7th grade boat races, 6th grade field day, and others. Please take a moment to remind your children of these opportunities and how they can earn them. Another thing to consider at this point in the year is grades. Moving to the next grade level must also be earned by earning the appropriate number of credits per year. Credits are counted each semester and a student must earn 11 credits, including at least 1 in English, Math, and Science. Please take time to discuss grades with your child to make sure they are on track to be promoted. If you have questions, please call the office. Contacting the school and teachers to check on your child is a great method of being proactive. On another note, while we are all enjoying our spring break hopefully somewhere warm, the bands will be heading to frigid Edmonton for their spring band trip. I know they will be enjoying their time together and learning more about music and chance to play. BCMS will be hosting Miss Idaho on Monday April 10! She will be speaking to each grade level from 11:48 a.m. to 1:18 p.m. in the band room about social media awareness and then again to our Leadership Class from 3 to 4 p.m. about obstacles of being a leader. We are excited for this opportunity! ISAT testing will begin on April 17 for majority of our students. Again, the State of Idaho mandates that our students participate in this yearly testing in order to measure growth of our students and the effectiveness of our schools and teachers. We are confident we will continue to show growth on our scores. Our first away track meet will be in Clark Fork on April 17. We have around 60 participants in track and can’t wait to see how our team competes against others. More importantly, our ONLY home track meet will be April 21 starting at 3 p.m. If you don’t want to travel, this will be your only opportunity to see our athletes compete. Please come support our students and their athletic performance. BCMS pictures for the track team and spring individual pictures will be April 25. Please be ready to look your best.
Students and parents interested in exploring advanced opportunities this summer or next year please call our counseling office. A presentation was recently given to all students explaining this opportunity to earn advanced credits and potentially a college degree by the time a student leaves high school. BCMS has also been very active leading up to spring break. We had a March Madness door decorating contest, art classes created a ceramic feast of food, we were able to watch a marimba band play, science class conducted cool experiments and then showed them off during lunch time, we had a used book sale, and students surprised me on my 40th birthday with a black decorated room and black clothing school-wide! BCMS is always up to something and I love every minute of it. Enjoy the break! GO BADGERS! |
