Local author slates Halloween book release |

There'll be a Halloween book unleashing party
for the horror comedy "Ambulatory Cadavers," the
third and latest novel published by Bonners
Ferry author McCallum J. Morgan, from 6 to 8
p.m. Monday, October 31, at Bonners Books, 7195
Main Street, Bonners Ferry. There'll be prizes,
free candy and a reading by the author.

McCallum is a 21year-old author of young adult
fantasy. Born and raised in Bonners Ferry, he
was always fascinated with the written word,
making up stories and drawing.
Along with his brother and sister, he explored
the woods around his home and went on many
imaginary adventures among the pine trees and
along the creek.
A voracious reader, he consumed
books at an alarming rate and drew incessantly.
Soon he was writing his own stories and dreaming
of the day he would be an author. He was
homeschooled and also took correspondence
courses from the Institute of Children’s
Literature.
At about the age of 13, his first book started
to take form, scribbled in notebook after
notebook; it grew slowly and was rewritten as an
assignment for an ICL course.
Finally, in 2014, that book was published when
McCallum was 19. He was already working on the
second book of what would become a trilogy (the
third book is planned for a release sometime
next year) and since then has also written an
unrelated horror-comedy, for which he did the
cover artwork.
When he is not writing, drawing, painting or
attacking a piece of fabric with a sewing
machine, he may be found drinking espresso or
working on log homes.
He describes writing as a compulsion and doesn’t
see any end in sight, which is fine by him
because “the sensation of writing a book is the
sensation of spinning, blinded by love and
