A change at the School Board: David
Brinkman steps down
as chairman, Nichele Whittaker selected as
new School Board Chairman |
|
At last Monday's July meeting of the Boundary
County School District 101 Board of Trustees, a
change was made in the School Board's
leadership. David Brinkman, who has served
for two terms as Chairman of the District's
Board of Trustees, stepped down from that
position. Board members voted Nichele
Whittaker to serve as their new Board Chairman.
Mr. Brinkman has served on the School Board
since 2011. In his second year on the
board, he was selected by the Board to serve as
Vice-Chairman. Following his time as
Vice-Chair, he was subsequently selected to be
the Board Chairman. The School Board
recently passed a policy limiting a chairman to
two terms of service, a policy that was
developed and encouraged by Mr. Brinkman and
fellow trustee Tess Rae. According to Mr.
Brinkman, this was done to allow greater variety
in leadership and direction for the School
Board.
Ms. Whittaker, the new Board Chairman, took over
the gavel and immediately began her service as
Chairman right after being voted into the
position at Monday's meeting. She was
first elected to the School Board in 2013,
representing the Zone 5 / Naples area.
Her first order of business was the selection of
a new Vice-Chairman. Trustee Ron MacDonald
was selected to fill that position.
The next meeting of the School District's Board
of Trustees will be August 8. |
