FFA
district CDE's for the Dairy Foods and Ag.
Mechanic competitions were held at Bonners Ferry
High School last week. At this event FFA
chapters from across the North Idaho District
(stretching all the way down to Moscow)
attended.
Besides the rigorous contests, there was a
barbecue where FFA members could eat and mingle,
and the North Idaho District officers did their
best to entertain the crowd and keep things
running smoothly. They played some break-the-ice
games with the members and got a fun frisbee
game started. Everyone seemed to have a great
time!
Quite a few very intelligent young adults won
the competitions and are soon to be going on to
state competitions. In fact, some of our very
own members won in both categories! Emily Ansley
won 3rd place in Dairy Foods, Shawna Siver won
2nd place in Dairy Foods, with the team placing
second overall. In Ag. Mechanics under the
category of Arch welding, Brittany Spangler won
1st place and Ryker Hittle won 2nd place. Under
the Oxy Acetylene welding category, Riley Brooks
won 1st place, and under the category of Small
Engines Ryker Hittle won 3rd place. The team as
a whole placed second in Ag. Mechanics.
State CDE's are during the last week of the
school year and will be held in Moscow. Here FFA
chapters from across the state of Idaho will
gather together to compete in almost every area
of agriculture from Animal Science to Forestry.
This is a great opportunity for FFA members to
meet new people and learn a lot at the same
time. |
