Sanders overwhelming winner in Idaho Democratic caucuses |
March 23, 2016 |
With several counties having larger-than-expected
crowds showing up, and long lines waiting to get
in, Idaho Democrats held their caucuses
throughout the state yesterday. Some
counties had to scramble to come up with extra
space at the last minute to accomodate the large
turnout of voters. As the evening for the caucuses came to an end, Bernie Sanders emerged as the overwhelming winner, with a reported 78% of the votes of Idaho Democrats, compared with 21% for Hillary Clinton. Idaho sends 27 delegates to the Democratic National Convention, to be held this summer in Philadelphia. Mr. Sanders will be awarded a large majority of those delegates. Totals for local Boundary County Democratic caucuses will be posted when they become available. |
