Outgoing Mayor David Anderson was roundly
thanked for his service as Bonners Ferry's chief
elected official at last night's City Council
meeting. During the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting, where citizens usually take a few moments to express their sentiments about water issues or city fiscal policy, some speakers took advantage of their alloted time to publicly comment on the mayor. "Mr. Mayor, I just want to voice my appreciation for what you have done for the last eight years," said Dave Gray as he stood to take his time for public comment. "You're a good man, and thank you for all you do." Bob Graham, Boundary County Incident Commander in the county's Emergency Management Department, also stood during the comment period to make a statement thanking the mayor. "You've done an exemplary job. We very much appreciate everything you've done, your leadership, and we hope you stick around and help us out." Vigorous applause broke out from those in attendance at the meeting as each comment was concluded. "I'm keeping the same phone number, so you can call me anytime," said Mayor Anderson. David Anderson was first elected to serve as Bonners Ferry mayor in 2007, and has completed two terms in that position, serving for eight years. |
