Mayor-elect David Sims resigns Director position
of Development Council |

Bonners Ferry mayor-elect David Sims, who was
elected mayor a month ago and will assume the
office in January, has resigned his position as
Director of the Boundary Economic Development
Council.
Mr. Sims has served as Director of the Council
for over three years, since September 2012.
"It became clear that holding the position would
be in conflict with being the mayor of Bonners
Ferry, as the City of Bonners Ferry provides
some financial support to the Boundary Economic
Development Council," said Mr. Sims.
He has no immediate plans for other employment
to announce at this time.
The Boundary Economic Development Council is a
public council whose aim is to encourage
business development in Boundary County,
including helping to bring new businesses into
the county. Its board of directors includes
elected officials from Boundary County, the
cities of Bonners Ferry and Moyie Springs, and
the School Board, also the Chair of the Kootenai
Tribe of Idaho. The board also includes private
citizens in business, along with representatives
from the Panhandle Area Council, the Idaho
Department of Labor, and the Idaho Department of
Commerce.
The goal of the Council is to help in local
business development. It aims also to encourage
new businesses to relocate to Boundary County.
Among other services, the Council provides
relevant information to businesses such as labor
force statistics and demographic information,
facilitates meetings with local and state
officials, helps in evaluating potential
relocation or building sites, assists businesses
in applying for Workforce Training funds,
identification of tax incentives, and other
services as needed. |
