Tennis Association invitation: "Come join
your
neighbors for Pickleball !" |
November 3, 2015 |
Search the web for "fastest growing sport" and
you'll find that Pickleball is definitely up and
coming. Wikipedia describes pickleball as "a
racquet sport that combines elements of
badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three,
or four players use solid paddles made of wood
or composite materials to hit a perforated
polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a
net."
The Boundary County Tennis Association invites
anyone and everyone to come try the game for
free, including a quick lesson on the game
itself and use of a loaner paddle. The BCTA
plays every Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m. and
every Thursday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. at
Valley View Elementary school. Once you are
hooked, you can join the Association and play
once a week (either Sunday or Thursday) for $15
or twice a week for $25.
The first day of the BCTA pickleball season is
Sunday, November 8, and the season runs into
2016 on Sundays through March 13 and on
Thursdays through February 18.
The Association will have several courts of
doubles play going on both days. The game is
fast-paced but not at all hard to learn. So come
give pickleball a try! |
