New Appointee fills open seat on Bonners Ferry City Council
June 24, 2015
by McKenzie MacDonald

Meet Bonners Ferry native Adam Arthur. He's an estimator for Accurate Collision Services, a volunteer for the City of Bonners Ferry Fire Department, and now Bonners Ferry's newest city council member.

Mr. Arthur has made a point of attending city council meetings for the past four years and has enjoyed keeping up with the action. “It is a good feeling to know what is going on in our community and why it's happening,” he said.

This past April, six-year city councilman Tom Mayo submitted his letter of resignation to the city. Upon Mr. Mayo’s resignation, Mayor Dave Anderson elected to appoint the next city council member, eventually naming Mr. Arthur to the position.

Aside from his work, and volunteering and attending city council meetings, Mr. Arthur enjoys “the standard North Idaho activities: fishing, hunting, and camping.” He also enjoys riding motorcycles.

What does he hope to accomplish as a city councilman? “Having been appointed, I don't have a specific accomplishment or goal that I'm working toward," he said, "other than listening to citizens and city staff to make any decisions in an informed and carefully thought out manner.”

While Mr. Arthur looks forward to working in this new capacity, he expects there will be some challenges, both immediate and on-going. “I do expect to face some challenges. The most immediate one would be operating the city while finding a replacement for the city administrator who has recently resigned. An on going challenge I'm also concerned about is the city's aging infrastructure.”

Despite these expected challenges, Mr. Arthur is excited to take office and help shape our community. “I'm looking forward to helping make decisions that will positively impact our city and citizens.”

Mr. Arthur will officially take office on July 1.
