Introducing this year's participants in
Distinguished Young Women

As this year's Distinguished Young Women event approaches, we will be publishing photos and brief biographies of three program participants each week, using information provided by our local Distinguished Young Women officials.  Here are this week's biographies.  All photographs were taken by Picturesque Photography by Sara.

Margaret Shannon McCoy – Participant #1

Margaret Shannon McCoy is sponsored by the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club. Margaret is the daughter of Sean and Tanya McCoy. She has two brothers, Eamonn and Andrew. After graduation, Margaret plans to attend college and aspires to enter a career in Business. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include FIRST Robotics, National Honor Society, reading, writing, and floral arranging.

Modern personalities that interest Margaret are Stephen Hawking and Jennifer Lawrence, while historical figures that interest her are Albert Einstein and Marie Curie. Margaret will be showcasing her interest in floral arranging for the talent portion of the program.

When asked what makes Margaret most proud of her generation, she states, “We are competitive and always want to do our best.”





Lauren Amelia Wages – Participant #2
The Moyie Shrine Club is proud to sponsor Lauren Amelia Wages. Lauren is the daughter of Theron and Judy Wages, and has one older sister, Belle. Lauren aspires to attend Western Washington University, where she plans to study Elementary Education. One historical figure that interests Lauren is Anne Frank. She is also intrigued by modern personalities Emma Watson and Jack White.

A few of the extracurricular endeavors that keep Lauren active include National Honor Society, Student Council, church activities, collecting records, and reading. For her talent, Lauren will be entertaining the crowd with a comical skit.

When asked what makes Lauren least proud of her generation, she states, “I am least proud of our short attention span to pop culture and world problems.”





Veronica Nadine MacDonald – Participant #3

Beta Sigma Phi is happy to sponsor Veronica Nadine MacDonald. Veronica is the daughter of Ron and Summer MacDonald. She has one sister, McKenzie. Veronica plans to attend Boise State University where she will study Nursing with an emphasis in pediatrics. She participates in the Cheerleading, Ballet, Student Council, and National Honor Society.

Stan Lee and Steven Spielberg are two modern personalities that interest her. Walt Disney and Abraham Lincoln are two historical figures that fascinate her. For her talent, Veronica will be performing a self-choreographed lyrical dance to “Latch” by Sam Smith.

When asked what makes her most proud of her generation, she states, “What makes me most proud of my generation is our ability to collaborate.”
