Meet candidates at upcoming Candidate's Forum |
September 26, 2014 |
In just 39 days from today, Boundary County
residents will be voting in Election 2014 on
November 4. Local voters have a great opportunity coming up to meet with candidates and to personally submit questions and issues of concern at a Candidate Forum scheduled for Tuesday, October 7. Area residents Rick Braun and Len Pine are organizing the Forum. They have invited all candidates for Idaho State Senate District 1, the Idaho House of Representatives District 1, and candidates for Boundary County Commissioners to attend and answer questions from voters. Mr. Braun and Mr. Pine indicate they are not affiliated with any political group or organization, and that they are funding this event themselves. "We conducted a forum like this for the Primary Election in 2012," said Mr. Braun. "We started with this idea because nobody was doing it, particularly with questions and comments directly from members of the audience." To date, the following candidates have responded that they will participate in the Forum: --Christian Fioravanti, Constitution Party candidate for Idaho State Senate District 1 --Heather Scott, Republican candidate for Idaho State House of Representatives Seat 1A --Sage Dixon, Republican candidate for Idaho State House of Representatives Seat 1B --LeAlan Pinkerton, Republican candidate for Boundary County Commissioner District 1 --Ron Smith, Independent candidate for Boundary County Commissioner District 1 --Terry Capurso, Independent candidate for Boundary County Commissioner District 2 --Tim Tucker, Democratic candidate for Boundary Couinty Commissioner District 2 It is very possible other candidates will also be present and participating in this Forum; Mr. Braun states the deadline for candidates to accept the invitation to participate is September 30. After that date, the list of participating candidates will be finalized. NewsBF will publish that complete list of participants prior to the program. At the Forum, each candidate will be allotted time for a brief presentation, followed by a question and answer period, with questions coming from audience members. Audience members will be allowed to ask any questions they wish of the candidates. Organizers of the event say there will be no pre-screening of questions. Importantly, refreshments will be available, including coffee, soft drinks, and bottled water. The October 7 candidate forum will take place at the Kootenai River Inn. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., and run until 9:00 p.m. Doors will open for admission at 5:00 p.m. For questions or additional information on this event, or if you are a candidate who wishes to participate, contact Rick Braun at 208-267-7514. |
