There are reports that Idaho State Police is
completing its investigation of a two-vehicle
collision, involving the local Drivers' Educatin
car, that injured five people last month. On August 18, a Drivers' Education car and a pickup truck were involved in a head-on collision a few miles north of Bonners Ferry. The Drivers' Education car carried two students, one of whom was driving the car as part of his drivers' training. That car also carried Travis Hinthorn, the Drivers' Education instructor. The pickup was driven by Garrett Graupner of Bonners Ferry, whose son was a passenger in his vehicle. Those involved in the accident required medical care, some requiring helicopter transport to medical facilities. Reports are that the ISP investigation has determined Mr. Graupner will be cited for inattentive driving, and cited also for failure to wear a seat belt. Idaho State Police further determined that the 14 year old student driver of the Drivers' Education car was not at fault in the accident. Additional details on the Idaho State Police findings on the collision will be reported as they are made available by police. |
