Ailport gives Rotary High Five update |

City of Bonners Ferry Planner Lisa Ailport
visited with members of the Bonners Rotary Club
at their Tuesday meeting at Mugsy's to
give an update on the High Five grant received
from the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation.
"We are currently 12 months into the 36 month
process, and Lisa is doing an amazing job making
the funds stretch and grow into much more than
we originally received," Rotary reporter Kristie
Campbell wrote.
So far, the city has gone through the
information gathering stage, Ailport said,
including technical advisory, conversations and
surveys around the city, polling kids and adults
about what they would like to see in the way of
healthy programs for our kids, asset mapping,
looking into what we currently have and how to
leverage that to make things better. She said we
have applied for several additional grants to
increase the amounts we have to spend.
Currently, the planning department is forming a
steering committee and their first meeting will
be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, January
23, at Bonners Ferry City Hall. The meeting will
be open to the public, but may not provide a
venue for public comment, as the focus will be
on the establishment of the committee.
She said, the Bonners Ferry City Pool project
has been bid on and funds raised to complete the
initial step of replacing the stem walls and
making the bathrooms handicap accessible.
A second grant was secured by the National
Association of Realtors for enhancing a bike and
pedestrian facility allowing safe use for bikes
and walkers. Mark Fenton has already assessed
our city with a walk audit to help determine
areas this facility could be used.

figures and ideas, Kristie wrote.
