Winter storm watch for Kootenai/Cabinet Region |
January 10, 2018 |
A winter storm watch has been issued by the
Missoula Weather Service for heavy snow above
2,500 feet in the Kootenai/Cabinet Region from
late tonight through Friday morning.
Snow accumulations of six to ten inches are
likely, with some areas liable to over two feet
of new snow, meaning travel will likely be very
difficult to impossible in areas on Highway 2
from Libby to Kalispell, on Highway 37 from
Libby to Eureka and on Highway 93 from Eureka to
Whitefish.
In addition to slick, impassable roads,
visibility is likely to be greatly reduced, and
heavy snow could bring down trees and power
lines, causing electrical outages throughout the
area. |
