The National Weather Service, Spokane has
upgraded a winter storm watch in North Idaho to
a winter storm warning for snow, in effect from
4 a.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.
New snow accumulations of six to 12 inches are
expected in the valleys, with one to two feet of
snow likely in the mountains.
Travel will be difficult or impossible,
especially at higher elevations, and visibility
could be greatly reduced. Travel during the
Thursday evening commute is expected to be
especially bad.
Motorists are advised to keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in
case of an emergency.
The latest road conditions for the state you are
calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
This much snow is likely to take down trees and
power lines, resulting in power outages.
Residents should get out to stock up before the
storm hits, and please check with elderly or
infirm neighbors to help ensure they have what
they need to weather the storm. |
