Satchwell honored for service to city
During Dean’s career he always maintained the attitude of going far above and beyond whatever was requested or required of him and he always put the best interest of his fellow employees and the City of Bonners Ferry first.
Dean began his career in law enforcement in 1974 as an officer with the Rathdrum Police Department, serving until 1976, when he joined the Adams County, Washington, Sheriff’s Office where he retired in 1999 as investigative supervisor and chief criminal deputy.
Dean continued his law enforcement career as a dispatcher with the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office in 2001 and as a reserve officer with the Bonners Ferry Police Department.
Dean was hired by the Bonners Ferry Police Department as administrative assistant in 2002 and he assisted as a computer administrator for the City Of Bonners Ferry.
He's done all this in recent years despite undergoing treatment in Seattle and most recently to Spokane for treatment of myeloma, a form of cancer that begins in the plasma in bone marrow. In addition to survive the disease, Dean has been an outspoken advocate for myeloma awareness throughout the region.
Dean brought years of prior experience in law enforcement to Bonners Ferry and he provided extensive training and assistance with criminal investigations. Dean also worked as the evidence technician with the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
Dean has continued his career as a volunteer for the Bonners Ferry Police Department, managing and maintaining the city speed trailer, working on policy and procedures manuals, and providing training on evidence collection.
