The power of PAWs
|
March 14, 2014 |
By Principal Gary Pflueger
I will begin this edition with celebrating our
students who are leading by example; these
students, along with many others, were given a
PAW for exhibiting “Safe, Civil and Productive”
behaviors at school.
At the end of every month, the names of all
students who earn a PAW are placed in a hat and
one name per grade level is randomly drawn.
The winners for January were: in Kindergarten -
Joselyn Cartwright, first - Lhex Davis Jaro,
second - Trey Bateman, third - Jocelyn Robbins,
fourth - Brena Gould, and fifth - Anthony
Fischer. February winners were: Kindergarten -
Alexis Spencer, first - Lexie Wells, second -
Alayna Halverson, third - Corine Spain, fourth -
Anika Tompkins and fifth - Zechariah Coryell.
Congrats to all students who earn PAWs!
The Valley View Student Council has been busy!
for the minutes of the last VVES Council
meeting. The most time sensitive item is the
sale of Lucky Grams. On March 12th, 13th and
17th, for 50 cents, a student or adult can
purchase a Lucky Gram for a friend. These will
be delivered at the end of each day.
All proceeds go to the Student Council.
To end, three notable-notes:
* Please do not drive your vehicle to the back of the school to
pick up your child. Students exit from four
locations in the back and head to the buses.
Adding personal vehicles to this mix is an
accident waiting to happen. We have already had
a close call. Student safety is our number one
goal. Please make arrangements to pick up your
child in the front of the school!
* Secondly, a couple cases of lice have raised their ugly heads
again. This is typical for the middle of winter.
We teach the children not to share hats or coats
and to keep their heads apart. While you are
giving your child a hug, look over their scalp
for the little critters. Slumber parties can
sometimes have more guests than you might
expect!
* Finally, you are running out of time to order the 2013-2014 VVES
Yearbooks. These will crack you up for years to
come! The deadline is March 24. If you have
pictures of school activities or events, please
let us know as soon as possible.
These next three weeks are critical in preparing
your child for the Idaho Spring Assessment. We
know you love your child! Faithful attendance at
school is crucial to their success!
Encourage reading and writing at home; review
math facts. Your child will thank you in the
long run ... I promise!
