'Out of Kilter' takes to the interwebs

to the technical prowess of his son, Heath, the
wit and wisdom of one of Boundary County's most
prolific yet warped writers is no longer
confined to ink and paper, but available to
family, friends and strangers around the world
via his new and charming blog,

Readers have stained their fingers and minds
following North Idaho native Ken Carpenter's
weekly discourse, "Out of Kilter" through local
papers including the Bonners Ferry Herald and
the Kootenai Valley Times for more than 20
years, and now his legions of followers, many of
whom only read to be able to complain about his
tatest depths of depravity, won't have to get
ink-stained hands to enjoy his work, nor will
they have anything left over to line the
birdcage with.
"I am no longer associated with any publication
to print my warped, sick stories," he wrote on
Facebook. "It was my choice, and that is all
I have to say."
Perhaps most significant, and potentially
alarming effect of the "progress" is that a much
wider audience will now get more ready access to
the same hilarious blend of trivia, history and
humor on topics so far out of kilter you can't
tell where they're coming from without the
queasiness, meddling or restriction of an
editor.
Just the pure, unabridged ramblings of a very
twisted man.
"It will be a work in progress, but there are
about 10 stories on it now," wrote Carpenter,
who earlier this year retired as Boundary
County's deputy assessor and now has even more
time to delve into the quirks and mysteries of
the world as only he can. "Believe me, it will
improve. I want everyone to feel free to share
it with any or all of your family, friends,
acquaintances or strangers. Please tell them to
do the same, for I might eventually make up to
98 cents on ads. I have modest goals. Thank you,
and as always I hope to provide some of you with
a chuckle or two. Feedback is not only welcome,
it is desired." |
