A Bonners Ferry girl now living in Post Falls
while attending cosmetology school in Spokane
has a once in a lifetime opportunity, but she
needs her hometown to help make her dream come
true. Casey Solt, the daughter of John and Laura Solt and a 2005 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School, is taking part in Paul Mitchell School's "FUNraising" event, which kicked off February 1 and concludes February 6, in which the first 100 students in 104 Paul Mitchell Schools nationwide to raise $3,000 will win the trip of a lifetime. "As you know, I'm extremely passionate about my school and my future as a professional cosmetologist," Casey said. "Paul Mitchell has changed my life for the better already and there are still many more opportunities to come. A huge part of the Paul Mitchell culture is giving back." This year all proceeds raised through the "FUNraising" event will go to Children's Miracle Network, No Limits, the Andrew Gomez Foundation, ELSA, the Gary Sinise Foundation, CAST (Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking), Food for Africa, Cancer Schmancer (Fran Drescher's organization against cancer), the Morris Animal Foundation (Betty White's organization), Wells of Hope, and Casey's favorite, Blessings Under the Bridge. "This is a non profit organization that the Paul Mitchell the School Spokane works with very often," she said. "They take hot meals, clothes and entertainment to our homeless, as well as haircuts that we students do." This year, the school is offering an opportunity to the first 100 people in the School systems to raise $3,000. These 100 people earn round trip flights to Los Angeles, two nights hotel stay, tickets to the Paul Mitchell FUNraising Gala, where winners will spend the day with Betty White, Gary Sinise, Fran Drescher, John Paul Dejorio, Winn Claybaughn and more. "I will also get a full day of hands-on education from some of the best in the business at the Beverly Hilton Hotel if I win," she said. Time is of the essence; 50 of the 100 spots are already taken and it's only been three days.
