The first round of the 2014 National Geographic
Bee kicks off next Wednesday, and Valley View
Elementary students will be competing for the
chance to represent Boundary County and the
State of Idaho next spring in Washington, D.C.
The Valley View bee, the 26th annual National
Geographic Bee, sponsored this year by Google,
begins in the Valley View gym at 2:45 p.m.
December 18.
Fourth through eighth grade students here will
be in competition with students in thousands of
schools across the United States and the five
U.S. Territories, as well as with students in
Defense Department Schools around the worlds.
The winner of the Valley View bee will next
compete to represent Idaho in a grueling written
exam; and will be eligible to compete in the
national championship, which takes place in
Washington, D.C. May 19-21.
The winner there will bring home glory, as well
as a $50,000 college scholarship. |
