Winter storm watch issued
|
November 13, 2013 |
The National Weather Service has issued a winter
storm watch calling for three to nine inches of
valley snow across much of the region, including
Boundary County.
The watch is in effect from late Thursday night
through Saturday afternoon, as a cold winter
storm pushes into the region from British
Columbia. Snow is expected to begin falling late
Thursday or early Friday morning, mostly in
higher terrain, but cooling temperatures Friday
night and into Saturday are expected to drop
snow levels to the valley floors.
Heavy accumulations are likely, with nine to 18
inches expected at higher elevations, pushed by
sustained winds of 10 to 15 miles an hour and
gusts up to 20 miles per hour. Temperatures
during this period are expected to drop into the
upper 20s.
The storm is expected to make driving conditions
hazardous. |
