Expect a windy day |
November 2, 2013 |
By the National Weather Service 5:45 a.m.: The beginning stages of our first big early-season storm system is affecting the Inland Northwest this morning. Widespread rain and high mountain snow has developed, and this will continue through the weekend. Snow levels will fall later today, bringing accumulating snows down to around 4,000 feet. Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings have been issued because of this. The bigger story for the majority of the population may be the gusty winds that are expected to develop this afternoon. Wind gusts may approach 50 miles per hour at many valley locations, with sustained winds 20 to 30 miles per hour. By Sunday morning, the winds may calm somewhat, but the valleys of northern Washington into the Idaho panhandle may see their precipitation change to snow. Some minor accumulations are possible, but travel impacts should be minimal in the lower elevations. |
