Mrs.
Connie Perez, fourth grade teacher at Valley
View Elementary School, has been selected as
Boundary County School District 101's Certified
Employee of the Month for May.
"Mrs. Perez is one of those special teachers who
come along every so often," wrote principal Gary Pfleuger and counselor ReNae Barker in
nominating her for the honor. "She is a
consummate professional and takes great pride in
being a teacher. Her teaching style is balanced
between an authentic respect for her students
and a genuine desire to see each of them
succeed. This style has been perfected
throughout her 24 years of teaching experience.
"Connie is a refreshing combination of common
sense and intelligence. She maintains a thirst
for on-going professional development, embracing
new trends and smoothly integrating them into
her traditionally successful teaching methods.
She is the epitome of 'The Life-long Learner!'
"Upon entering Connie’s classroom, you
immediately notice a calm, nurturing
environment, where students feel comfortable and
safe. You quickly realize, though, that much
more is going on there. The classroom is
structured and organized, providing the best
learning environment for all students.
"Mrs. Perez has high expectations for her
students, both academically and behaviorally,
and she holds them to that high standard.
Adults, whether they be staff or parents,
appreciate this atmosphere and regularly comment
on her unique ability to create and maintain it.
"Valley View Elementary School and the children
and families of Boundary County are indeed
fortunate to have Mrs. Connie Perez as one of
our own. She is a shining star in the proud
profession of education."
