CROP Walk 2013 coming |
April 9, 2013 |
Last year, Brad Buerge walked his way to $1,739
to help fight world hunger, both here and
abroad, to become the top walker in the Bonners
Ferry CROP Hunger Walk, which raised a total of
$8,428.16. This year's CROP Hunger Walk is taking place at the Bonners Ferry High School track from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, and walkers, volunteers and donors are once again needed. Of the $8,428.16 raised last year, about $2,100 stayed right here in Boundary County, going to the Bonners Ferry Food Bank to help our neighbors in need. All the rest, 75-percent, went to Church World Services, making a difference in the lives of the hungry around the world. The dollars helped brink clean, potable water to thirsty villages in Kenya; helped dairy farmers in Bosnia. It helped rebuild homes and lives in Haiti after a devastating earthquake. The money raised locally this year will help expand upon and continue that good work, both here and abroad.
