Winter storm watch above 3,000 feet
|
February 21,2013 |
The National Weather Service, Spokane, has
issued a winter storm watch effective Friday
afternoon and into Saturday calling for heavy
snow and gusty winds above 3,000 feet.
Valley locations could see one to four inches of
fresh snow, totals could reach to 13 inches at
higher elevations, where winds could gust up to
45 miles per hour.
According to the National Weather Service, light
snow accumulations are likely today and tonight
over the region, which includes Boundary County,
mostly at higher elevations.
A much heavier round of snow is expected to hit
Friday afternoon and persist through Saturday,
potentially heavy at times. Valley locations
could see light accumulations. The snow level
will start off on the valley floor tonight and
rise to 3,000 feet Friday afternoon.
The snow has the potential to make roads slick
for the morning commute Friday, and could make
travel on mountain roads treacherous or
impossible. |
