March
4, 2013, marks the 150th anniversary of the
creation of Idaho Territory. Kootenai Tribal
Chair Jennifer Porter, Boundary County
Commission chair Dan Dinning and Bonners Ferry
Mayor David Anderson are proclaiming this date
in commemoration of a yearlong statewide
recognition of Idaho’s Territorial
Sesquicentennial.
An “Essential Idaho: 150 Things That Make the
Gem State Unique” exhibit at the State
Historical Museum will feature 150 items
nominated from organizations and individuals
across Idaho representing Idaho’s diverse
landscape, remarkable people, and fascinating
history.
This exhibition will open on March 4, 2013, in
Boise. The Boundary County Museum is
participating by having sent a sturgeon hook
from its local collection.
The Boundary County Historical Society and
Museum will be providing a “Let’s Get
Territorial” program for District 101 Fourth
Grades on March 4. An evening event will be held
on Saturday, March 9, in the Museum’s Portrait
Hall, beginning at 7 p.m.
A $5 donation is requested at the door.
At 7 p.m. Friday, May 24, Idaho State Historian
Keith Petersen will travel to Bonners Ferry for
a special evening program titled “Inventing
