Three elections on tap for 2013

February 5, 2013
Though 2013 is an off-election year, three elections will be held this year, including a school district maintenance and operations levy election coming up March 12.

If approved, that two year levy will raise $2.8 million to fund school operations, maintenance and salaries from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2015. The school board will hold a public informational meeting on the levy at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, in the Becker Auditorium at Bonners Ferry High School, and county polling sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.

On May 21, voters will be asked to select two Boundary County Library Trustees as well as three members of the School District 101 Board of Trustees; the Zone 1 position held by Gil Hagen, the Zone 2 position representing Moyie Springs filled on Monday after the resignation of Tim Bertling, and the Zone 5 position held by Lisa Dirks.

The third election comes November 5, when two seats on the Bonners Ferry City Council and the seats of Moyie Springs Mayor, currently held by Doug Evans, and two council seats are to be filled. In addition, voters in the Paradise Valley Fire District will fill the District 3 commissioner's seat, currently held by Ken Irons, and voters in the South Boundary Fire Protection District will vote to fill the District 1 Commissioner position held by Wayne Cavendar.
