Badger girls in championship game

February 5, 2013
The Bonners Ferry Badgers girls basketball team, coached by Ken Robertson,  took out the Kellogg Wildcats Monday night, 34-26, to move on to fight for the district championship.

They'll face the Priest River Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lakeland.

Over the season, the Badgers built a 14-6 overall win/loss record, but Intermountain League play proved tough this year, with a league record of 3-3. They fell to Kellogg earlier in the season by two points, but came on to win in the next two games, including the one that counted on Monday, to give them second place standing in league.

Wednesday's game is going to be tough; the Priest River girls are undefeated in league play and have a 14-6 overall win/loss record.

Both games pitting the Badgers and the Spartans this year have been nail-biters. On January 8, Priest River came away with victory by a single point, 36-35; their second meeting on January 24 was but a three point game, with Priest River taking it, 32-29.

To give them an added edge, all Badger fans who can make the trip arte encouraged to go to Lakeland to cheer the team on. If you can't go in person, you can hear live coverage of the game announced by David Brinkman and Joel Minor on AM1450, KBFI, or you can watch it live on your computer at http://boundarycountylive.com.
