Winter weather advisory issued for snow

The National Weather Service has issued a winter
weather advisory for North Idaho and the
northeastern Washington mountains, calling for a
chance of four inches of snow in the valleys
tonight.
The advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. today
until 4 a.m. Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, snow
is expected to begin falling late this afternoon
and intensify through the evening before
tapering off to scattered snow showers by dawn
Thursday. Valley locations could see two to four
inches of snow from this system, higher
elevations could see up to five inches of fresh
snow over night.
The chance of snow is 100%.
Motorists are advised that overnight driving
conditions could be hazardous, with slick, icy
roads and limited visibility. It could also make
the morning commute tricky, though the chance of
more snow diminishes to 40% between sunup and 10
a.m.
Temperatures tomorrow are expected to rise above
freezing tomorrow as warmer, southwesterly winds
take over, pushing out stagnant air and the
sub-freezing conditions that have prevailed for
almost a week.
The overnight low for tonight in Bonners Ferry
is expected to be 27-degrees, with temperatures
warming to 34-degrees on Thursday. Each day
through next Tuesday carries a chance of light
to moderate snow. |
