The National Weather Service, Spokane, has
cancelled a winter weather advisory and replaced
it with a winter weather warning in effect from
8 p.m. today through 4 p.m. Monday, calling for
heavy snow.
The coming system, the NWS advises, could cause
treacherous travel conditions by the time of the
Monday morning commute.
Light snow this morning will taper off to
scattered snow showers throughout the day, then
become a steady snowfall this evening, becoming
heavier through the night and into Monday
morning.
We could see snowfall of four to eight inches in
the valleys and up to 14-inches at higher
elevations, pushed by southerly winds of 15 to
25 miles per hour along exposed ridge tops, with
gusts to 50 miles per hour beginning Monday
morning.
The NWS warns that motorists on Highway 95 and
Interstate 90 could see moderate to heavy
snowfall during the morning commute, making for
extremely slick roads and poor visibility.
