Superintendent's letter to the community |
November 13, 2012 |
Boundary County School District #101 has had
four bomb threats in the past several weeks. As
a district and a community we take these threats
very seriously. We have involved a great deal of community resources in dealing with these threats. So far, these threats have not been creditable but we will always error on the side of safety. We have had meetings with numerous city, county, state and federal officials in dealing with these threats. This is very disruptive to the educational process as well as upsetting and concerning to our parents and community. Our police department is continuing its investigation into these threats. We are asking for your help in informing your children, grandchildren and relatives of the seriousness of these acts. We are also asking that parents allow their students to remain at the new location after the evacuation so we have time to talk with students concerning what they have seen or heard that is related to the threat. I believe it is a federal crime and can be considered an act of terrorism. The penalties for these crimes can be very costly and severe with time in jail. These threats are not jokes or pranks. They are very serious and we are acting accordingly. There has been a $1,000 reward offered for the perpetrators of these acts and we encourage anyone who has any information to contact the police department in Bonners Ferry (208) 267-2412.
