At 4:08 a.m. today, the National Weather
Service, Spokane, issued a winter weather
advisory for North Idaho, including Boundary
County, and much of western Montana, calling for
snow, wind and falling temperatures.
The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. today
through 4 p.m. Friday. Temperatures are expected
to drop into the 20s overnight and only climb
into the lower 30s on Friday, and sustained
northeast winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour, with
gusts up to 40 miles per hour, will drop wind
chill temperatures into the teens.
Along with the cold and wind, we could see two
to four inches of snow in valley locations and
four to seven inches at higher elevations.
It is expected that precipitation will begin
this evening as rain/snow mix, turning to all
snow overnight. As a result, travel conditions
on roads throughout the region are likely to be
treacherous, with slush and snow making road
surfaces extremely slick and blowing snow
reducing visibility.
